Private Lessons at Kip Puterbaugh’s Aviara Golf Academy
If you do not have the time for a Golf School, a great way to work on your game is through private lessons with our staff. Private lessons are available every day.
Work on Your Game, Any Day
The difference at the Aviara Golf Academy is our teachers. Every one of our instructors is a great teacher with years of experience, and all of them are ranked among the Top 40 Teachers in California. If you do not have the time for a Golf School, private lessons with our staff are a great way to work on your game, and they are available every day.
Every lesson is tailored to you: your game, your goals and what you want to work on that day. Lessons take place on our grass range, with favorable wind and hitting conditions, and in our covered teaching stalls.
We believe technology is a powerful tool, especially video. Video helps separate what you feel from what you are really doing. Our Swing Catalyst force plates help you see and feel differences in your swing that you probably would not be able to perceive otherwise. Your instructor uses them when they help your lesson. After your lesson, your swings are sent to you by email.
Great Teachers, Supported by Great Tools
Our instructors are the heart of every lesson. Technology is a powerful tool in their hands: it helps you separate what you feel from what you are really doing, and see and feel differences you would not notice on your own.
Full Swing
Our covered teaching stalls feature the latest in high-speed video, with high-speed cameras and audio input, so your swings are instantly available for viewing. Video shows you what you are really doing, not just what you feel.
- Swing Catalyst video and force plates
- Foresight Falcon and GCQuad launch monitors
- FlightScope
- A library of over 1,600 Tour swings for comparison
Our Swing Catalyst force plates help you see and feel a difference in your swing you would probably not perceive otherwise.
Putting Lessons
Putting lessons take place on our private putting green, where there is time to use our putting technology:
- OnForm stroke analysis
- Wellputt BigTilt putting platform
Putting help is also part of many regular lessons, through good teaching and training aids.
The Quintic Ball Roll System is used only in our Putting Lab lessons. Explore the Putting Lab →
Short Game
Our new short game facility lets you practice from every kind of lie: rough, bunker, uphill, downhill and side-hill. Your instructor can set up the shots you actually face, so what you learn in your lesson carries over to the course.

Client Testimonials
I wanted to let you know that I learned so much from your instruction at Aviara. I was able to practice a lot during our stay for the month of March at Bermuda Dunes Country Club. I felt my swing had changed and my ball striking was different as a result of what I learned. I played well the first week, but then went backwards a bit to some of my old habits. With more practice of the new long swing, I was able to drive the ball really well. My pitches and chips are sooooo much better, too!
Thank you again for a great experience with you. We look forward to returning to Aviara.
